VDI Law Firm had the pleasure of attending the Business Luncheon, organized by the International Propeller Club Port of Piraeus, featuring, Koichi Ito’s, H.E. Ambassador of Japan, insightful talk on “Japanese Shipping and its Enduring Partnership with Greece”, while President Costis Frangoulis took the floor first, with his address.
The presentation highlighted key moments in Japanese maritime history-from early regional trade and the modernization era, to the incredible story of the ship Tokei Maru, which rescued Greek refugees in 1922. Ambassador Ito also emphasized the long-standing cooperation in shipbuilding, shared efforts toward maritime security, and the urgent need for energy transition in international shipping leading to a more sustainable industry.
